Tage Thompson scored twice, including the go-ahead goal in the third period, to help the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-2 win against the host Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.
Jack Quinn had a goal and an assist and Zach Benson and Rasmus Dahlin each had two assists for the Sabres, who have won three in a row. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 27 saves.
Corey Perry and Andre Lee scored for the Kings while Anton Forsberg made 28 saves.
Thompson put Buffalo in front for good with a power-play goal at 13:40 of the third. He received a pass from Quinn at the inner side of the left circle and one-timed it past Forsberg.
Quinn gave the Sabres a 1-0 lead on the power play at 6:35 of the first. Benson took a short feed from Dahlin along the right wall and spun around to dish a cross-ice backhand to Quinn in the left circle. Quinn took it to the slot and beat Forsberg with a snap shot off the right post.
Thompson made it 2-0 at 15:38 of the second. Benson carried the puck across the blue line to the top of the slot before feeding it to Thompson, who snapped it past Forsberg inside the far post.
The goal was his 222nd tally with Buffalo, tying him with Rene Robert for ninth in franchise history.
Los Angeles cut the deficit in half just under two minutes later on the power play. Trevor Moore’s shot from the right circle deflected off Perry’s skate in front and went past Luukkonen stick side.
Officials waved it off for goaltender interference, but the Kings challenged successfully and the call was overturned.
Lee tied it 2-2 at 1:29 of the third period. Joel Armia rimmed the puck along the end wall to Scott Laughton in the left corner and Laughton quickly sent it to Lee, who was alone in front to direct it past Luukkonen on the glove side.
Los Angeles played without top-line winger Adrian Kempe for the first time this season. Kempe (three goals, five assists) is day to day with an undisclosed injury.
