Jeremiah Wilkinson led the way with 22 points to help Georgia run away with a crushing 107-73 win over Florida State in the ACC/SEC Challenge Tuesday night in Tallahassee, Fla.
Wilkinson was 7-for-13 from the floor with four of Georgia’s 11 3-pointers. Blue Cain added 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Kanon Catchings tallied 17 points and six boards for Georgia (8-1).
The Bulldogs, who entered the game averaging a nation-leading 99.0 points per game, posted their second consecutive 100-point game and the fourth of the season, shooting 57.1% from the floor against a listless Florida State defense.
Georgia made 29 of 40 2-point shots (72.5%), outscoring the Seminoles 56-38 in the paint.
Robert McCray V led Florida State (5-3) with 18 points and tied for the team lead with five rebounds. Chauncey Wiggins added 15 points, as the Seminoles were handed their second consecutive loss by 30-plus points against an SEC opponent.
Coming off a poor shooting performance vs. Texas A&M, Florida State once again struggled early against the Bulldogs. The Seminoles opened 1-of-11 from 3-point range and 3-for-23 from the floor.
However, Georgia didn’t take too much advantage in the early going, opening up a 23-10 lead 10 minutes in before Florida State rattled off an 8-0 run with a pair of 3-pointers to claw its way back into the game.
The Bulldogs responded by ending the half on a 26-12 run, with Wilkinson scoring nine points over that span to finish with a game-high 13 points at the half. Georgia led 49-30 at the break.
A 13-0 Georgia run near the midway point of the second half put the game away for the Bulldogs, extending their advantage to 83-44 with 10:23 left.
Florida State used a 9-0 run to spark a longer 17-5 run, which cut the deficit to as little as 27 in the closing minutes before Georgia ended the game on a 7-0 run.
